Default Farming purple Crystalline Swords - possible with each profession

Ever wondered why there are so many purple Crystalline Swords, Dwarven Axes, Serpent Axes, Ascalon Mauls and all those rare skinned Weapons around, that usually only drop from Chests that appear during some special Quests?

Think most of you know the 3 Chests that spawn during the Kilroy Stonekin Quest in Sorrows Furnace, and propably even some used to farm it in Groups or farm it "solo" atm.

Think most of them who do it "solo" now will blame me for revealing this, but I never liked keaping secrets like this.

It's easily done with each profession, I think Searing Flames Elementalist should work best, but all others will do fine too.

You just form a group in Deldrimor Warcamp, I always chose 3 SF Heroes - 2 Ele 1 Nec/Ele -, Mhenlo, Linda, Cynn and Eve, while I used to be Warrior.
2 Monks and the rest Damage, maybe some Interrupts and Enchantment Remove against Herders and Dolyak Masters/Priests are useful too.

Just make your Way to Sorrows Furnace through Grenth's Footprint and pick up Kilroy Stonekin on your way.

In Sorrows Furnace there are 3 Chests that spawn during the Kilroy Quest.

After clearing the Area from Enemies those Quests will spawn, ready to be opened by you.
But don't open them instantly. Now that's the most important part! Flag your Heroes out of your Range, until their Names get grey.
When they aren't in your Range anymore, you can open the Chest, simulating that you are alone in your group - all Dropps from the Chest will be yours.

A lot of rare skinned Weapons drop there, Crystallines, Dwarven Axes, Serpent Axes, etc.
Unfortunately the Chests don't dropp Gold Weapons, all are purple, so 14^50 is the best Damage Mod you can get - which is still very good for a Crystalline Sword.

The system is working... theoretically, because purple weapons usually have no, or a very bad damage-mod, 14^50 is extremely rare, as any ^50...
Even IF you get a Crystalline Sword/Dwarven Axe/Serpent Axe, you need a huge amount of luck getting a good one...

Even non-Max dmg is possible, usual...

Then why have you just wanted a PC for two 14^50 Crystallines?
Nono ... the Chance to get a good Drop is not so bad, you won't find a Crystalline each run, that's right, but there is a good Chance to get one, and rare Damage Mods are not as rare as you want us to think, got 13ench, 14ench, 13^50 Chrystallines and Serpents by myself.

Haven't done the run for some Days now, but think it took about 10-20 Minutes or something like this.

The whole run takes about 20-30min

'cause I found 3 14^50 crystallines (one non max-dmg) and he none, so he's jealous and want's me to get nothing for my crystallines. (as you can see in this Thread...)

Kilroy farming has been around for a while, someone made a great guide on it a while back on Game amp.

I dont see it getting nerfed, making 2-3k each run is not really that much when you think about it, plus, getting a rare weapon doesnt happen often, meaning the system is still working.

SF was made to give out these swords and axes on rare occasions, I cant see it getting nerfed

But if you "solo" this, your chance getting one of these is 7times higher... so i too think this is going to be nerfed soon...

You get those rare skinned Weapons quite freqeuntly. It's not like you get tons of it, but considering how often you get Crystallines elswhere, it's a huge amount!

Don't think SF should be nerfed, that's ok. It just shouldn't be possible to flag your Heroes like that, so that GW thinks you are alone in the Party and gives you all the Items.

I have been doing Kilroy runs for a while now, solo each time. I can do my runs in about 15 mins now. But still I have only had 2 Crystaline Swords in 1 day and 1 Dwarven Axe. Thats the only rare skins I have had.

If this was going to be nerfed, it would have been by now. Well I do hope so

Sagggan, Thanks for letting the rest of us here know about the Kilroy farm. I remember hearing something about that before but never bothered cause i was too busy green farming. Players like you who share are what makes GW a fun game...which is why i always reveal farm spots and builds when i find em =). And Phantom, if you knew of the spot already they you must have already farmed the life out of it so who cares? There is only so much gold you can stockpile.

I do it with me as a mm, (barbs, mark of pain w/ fiends) two warrior hench and two monk hench. its easy.

also, "if you solo blah blah 7x chance" no, when the chests pop up, leave them unopened. just go flag your hench into a big group of stuff after you have completed the quest then go back and open chests and you get all the drops.

Few things come to mind:

1) I knew about this forever ago.
2) Not worth my time. I make more money with my other farming spots that will remain MY OWN.(even if I found crystallines)

Have a good night everyone.

PS-ANET WILL NERF THIS!

Only purples drop from the Kilroy quest chests. This means the highest damage mod you can get is 14%. But still, a purple crystalline can sell for a decent amount. (Also you can get other weapons besides crystallines such as eternal bows).

This is the only legitimate place for pure pve'ers to obtain these skins. They aren't even max. I don't see what all the fuss is about.
